First visit

A typical first visit for acupuncture or Chinese herbal medicine lasts about 90 minutes.  During this time, you will be asked to fill out a health history questionnaire detailing why you are here and what symptoms you are experiencing.  Your first visit will also include a treatment for acupuncture or a formula will be created for you specific pattern diagnosis.

How do I prepare for my visit?

Acupuncture usually does not require that you disrobe to receive treatment.  Patients are asked to wear loose, comfortable clothing that can be rolled up at the elbows and knees.  It is advisable that you eat something light about an hour or so before receiving acupuncture.  You don’t want to receive acupuncture on an empty stomach, nor do you want to come in after just having eaten a large meal.  Please bring a list of current medications along with dosage amounts to your first visit.

Follow-up

After your treatment, we will work together to identify your treatment goals, and decide on a basic treatment plan, including an estimate of how often and how many treatments you might need to satisfactorily address your condition.
