Developed over 2,000 years ago, Chinese medicine is the world’s oldest continually practiced formal medical system.  Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are the cornerstones of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Acupuncture is the insertion of very thin (about the thickness of a few strands of hair), sterile, disposable needles into specific acupoints on the body to stimulate the flow of qi (pronounced “chee”) and blood circulation throughout the body.

This energy is called Qi in Chinese medicine.  It flows through the body along specific pathways or meridians, and flows in specific directions.  When qi is not circulating properly through the body, stagnation or deficiency can result, causing pain and illness.  Acupuncture helps to get qi moving again, bringing the body back in to balance and eliminating pain and illness.
